Diane Dixon Challenges Governor Gavin Newsom to Repeal AB5 and Let Independent Contractors Work
NEWPORT BEACH, CA – – Today Republican candidate for the 74th Assembly District, Diane Dixon challenged Governor Gavin Newsom to use his executive authority granted to him under the California’s Emergency Services Act.
“Last week I sent Governor Gavin Newsom a letter asking him to repeal Assembly Bill 5 and today I’m calling on him to act. Many healthcare workers, including emergency room physicians needed now more than every are impacted by this law,” said Dixon. “However, this law won’t stop harming workers after the threat of COVID-19 fades away. The wide-ranging effects of AB5 will have a severe impact on our economic recovery, said Dixon. “This bill was written irresponsibly at the behest of special interests and it’s time to scrap it and give workers a fair chance to make a living in this new world. Governor Gavin Newsom is the one person who has the executive authority to make it happen and I’m asking him to do the right thing.”
Diane Dixon is a expert in business after working for four decades in the private sector including serving as a business executive for a Fortune 300 company overseeing its global communications. Today Diane is an elected member of the Newport Beach City Council.
